What happens when an innate flâneur enters the world of theatre and trains as an actor? If we look at Mihail’s pictures, there’s something in there that’s never quite left the limelight. They harness the power of the gesture, the stance and the way a person changes the space they’re occupying. The light can be honest or deceiving – and nothing escapes its shapeshifting powers, not even architecture, not even friends. The subjects can be detached or playfully willing to interact with where they’re at, but there’s always an invitation for a flight of fancy. What you see is beautiful, touching, tender or silly, but more often than not it’s all of these things. Whether it’s fashion, travel or street photography, whether it’s intimate portraits or bodies making a landscape their own, Mihail’s themes and compositions punctuate what we’re all anxious to look at: the story.
